Goodbye World Movie (Survivalists and Off The Grid Homesteaders… Your Time Has Come)

"Goodbye World" - A post-apocalyptic movie coming out on April 4th.

Brace yourselves you survivalists and self-sufficient alike. The movie we’ve all been waiting for is finally set to hit the silver screen on April 4th. Ok, so maybe you’re not all hardcore Post-Apocalyptic and Dystopian wanderlust dreamers and movie fanatics like me, but with Adam Grenier and Ben McKenzie starring side by side, I’m sure you can make an exception for this oneThat is of course, if you still watch movies or have access to a movie theater.

The Goodbye World movie paints a picture of one family’s cocooned life living off the grid in Northern California. A picturesque life away from the chaos of modern society that many can only dream of and I’m sure, many of you probably already live. When a mysterious cyber attack causes large scale civil unrest that rips through society, what occurs next is nothing short of a max exodus of human life as we know it. This forces estranged college friends (and ex-lovers of course… this is Hollywood folks) to flock to this idealistic homestead in question and basically, beg on the doorstep of their self-sufficient brethren to take them in. All is butterflies and rainbows to start with. Low and behold, what starts out as a Utopian-like community of old friends sharing stories of long lost years apart over hearty farm-fresh food, organic wine and I’m sure, plenty of weed to go about (it’s based in Northern California ya’ll), soon turns into a sour and troublesome new world order that threatens the peace and tranquility. Oh humans you… always ruining your own slice of heaven.

What timing too as I type this from the remote mountain forests of Northern California where I’m retreating for a couple weeks. This movie basically depicts my solitude life as we speak. Albeit a temporary situation, the mere taste of such a life has surely tantalized my inner survivalist spirit and this movie will no doubt, spur that feeling further.

The movie, yes, while mainstream, is at least pushing this idea out there. Not that we should live in fear or stock the pantry with baked beans to last us until the end of time. It will certainly get the brain juices pumping as people start pondering the tough questions in life. Well, what would you do?

Now on the flip side, let’s hear the reaction from the other side of society:

“A movie about a bunch of hippies sitting around whining and talking about their feelings. I’d rather give myself an unanesthetized vasectomy with a rusty spoon.”
(njineermike, Calguns.net)

Oh bless your soul. You made me spurt out my mouthful of homemade bone broth.
